Did you know the Atlantic Silverside (Menidia menidia), aka Baitfish, aka Spearing, are social fish?

In the brackish, cool shore waters and inner bay waters, and in the waters where rivers debouch into the sea, you may see these slim, silver-banded beauties navigating the sea grasses of New England in schools, searching together for zooplankton to eat, or maybe a tasty amphipod, or, perhaps, a young squid.
